The Shifting Labor Market
New Employment Laws May Cost Your Business More

Mike Berendt, a recognized employment and labor
law expert with a broad legal and human resources background, will share an update on important employment, labor and HR laws that have a direct effect on how employers of all sizes run their businesses. Topics to be covered include overtime, employee handbooks, and independent contractors.

According to www.dol.gov, "The Department is proposing to update the regulations governing which executive, administrative, and professional employees (white collar workers) are entitled to the Fair Labor Standards Act's minimum wage and overtime pay protections. As proposed, this would raise the salary threshold from $455 a week (the equivalent of $23,660 a year) to about $970 a week ($50,440 a year) in 2016."
