Come to The Heartland Institute for a presentation by renowned legal historian Stephen Presser on how law professors impact not only our laws, but also our politics and culture.
Northwestern University’s Stephen Presser has taught law and legal history for over forty years. He has co-authored over ten books on subjects such as the U.S. Constitution and business law. Presser’s latest book, Law Professors: Three Centuries of Shaping American Law, delves deeply into the history of the law profession.
In his most recent volume, Presser explains how law professors in the United States play a more prominent role in politics and society than in any other country. He traces the evolution of American law and legal education from colonial times to the present. He brings over twenty titans of the legal profession to life through fascinating profiles as he critically evaluates the contributions – both positive and negative – of this extraordinary group of men and women.
At this event, Presser will explain how his colleagues have had a profound impact on American ideals. Law professors possess a unique role in society. They are responsible for shaping the minds of most of our nation’s future judges, lawyers, and elected officials. Come get a first-hand account from a foremost law professor on the past, current, and future state of legal education in the United States.
